At our TEDxBarcelonaSalon events we foster networking, dialog and the discussion among all members of TEDxBarcelona. In order to achieve this we meet once a month and listen to an interesting talk. After watching the talk we discuss about the presented subject. In order to make this event effective we limit the number of attendees.

Our June-TEDxBarcelonaSalon event took place on Monday, 3rd of June at 18:45 at the library Excellence (C/ Balmes 191).

Stewart Brand: The rebirth of extinct species

Stewart Brand and his team of scientist are using the advances of biotecnology to re-create animals which are extinct. Nowadays, it is possible – thanks to genetic engineering – to create animals based on DNA of extinct species. Stewart explains us the technology used and shows us some examples of animals which they have created already. We watched the video together (english with spanish subtitles). Afterwards we discussed the idea and the ethical implications.

We finished the event with networking and a glass of cava.
