TEDxBarcelonaSalon 01.10.12

At our TEDxBarcelonaSalon events we foster networking, dialog and the discussion among all members of TEDxBarcelona. In order to achieve this we meet once a month and listen to an interesting talk. After watching the talk we discuss about the presented subject. In order to make this event effective we limit the number of attendees.

Our October-TEDxBarcelonaSalon event took place on Monday, 1st of October at 18:45 at the library Excellence (C/ Balmes 191).

Can we prevent violence without being violent?

How do you deal with a bully without becoming a thug? In this wise and soulful talk, peace activist Scilla Elworthy maps out the skills we need — as nations and individuals — to fight extreme force without using force in return. To answer the question of why and how non-violence works, she evokes historical heroes — Aung San Suu Kyi, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela — and the personal philosophies that powered their peaceful protests. As always, we discussed about the content presented (in spanish) among all attendees. We finished the event with networking and a glass of cava.
