Winston Churchill said that democracy is the worst form of government except for the others that have been tried. Without a doubt, democracy can be improved in many ways. In this event we want to focus on citizen participation. Does it make sense today that we vote only one party every four years and cannot participate in the rest of the decisions that politicians make? What if we had more power in decisions? Who should (should?) Make what kinds of decisions?
We will start with a talk by Adrià on how to increase citizen participation and afterwards we will debate with everyone on this subject. We will end the event with a networking session. Moreover there is also the Bar of Casa Seat where we can also have a glass together (limited audience).

The speaker

Adrià Rodriguez is a Public Policy Analyst on human rights, democracy and digital technologies. His research focuses on the intersection between international standards, digital technologies, and electoral and participatory processes, and especially on Internet voting. He is currently a Public Policy Researcher at Scytl Secure Electronic Voting, S.A. and Adjunct Professor of International Relations and Global Governance at the Pompeu Fabra and Oberta Universities of Catalonia.
