At our TEDxBarcelonaSalon events we foster networking, dialog and the discussion among all members of TEDxBarcelona. In order to achieve this we meet once a month and listen to an interesting talk. After watching the talk we discuss about the presented subject using the socratic dialog. In order to make this event effective we limit the number of attendees.

Frans de Waal: Moral behvior in animals

Our first TEDxBarcelonaSalon took place Monday, 4th of June at 6:45pm at the library Excellence (C/ Balmes 191). We presented the talk from Frans de Waal, a dutch biologist who is investigating the behavior of primates. He gave his talk at TEDxPeachtree in November 2011. In his talk, Frans de Waal showed us that effectively primates are behaving with reciprocity, fairness, empathy and compassion.

After the talk we had a discussion (in spanish) moderated by the philosopher Humberto Schwab who used the methodology socratic dialog for our conversation. We thus talked about subjects as morality, society, animals…

We finalized with a networking with a cup of cava and pastery for everyone.
